We had a lovely one-night stay, wishing we could have stayed longer. Everyone was kind and competent. Good food in the morning. It’s right on the Grassmarket square, where there are a lot of restaurants and activities, and a short hike to the Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. Our balcony view of the Castle was breathtaking. All in all, a great place to stay.

I checked into this hotel last minute after an issue with the previous property. The staff were so incredibly friendly and kind. My room had a great view, was clean, and comfortable. I didn't pack a swimsuit but would have loved to check out the sauna/pool. Located in a really convenient area if you want to stay and explore old Edinburgh.

We booked a castle view room, but still ended up in the ground floor. We could see the castle - but only just. The room was tiny, the bathroom was even smaller and we had no air conditioning (heating). The toilet ran the entire time (like a tap running) - not very green. The facilities in the room where non-existent, but it’s the first 4 star hotel I’ve stayed at that included a pedestal fan (did I mention no air conditioning) The web site says they have a laundry - but they only have a 3rd party laundry service (not the same thing). So I was charged £32 to clean 2 pairs of pants and 2 tee shirts. BUT, when the laundry was returned to the hotel I had to go down to reception to pay for it on my Cc ( they would not send it up to the room - or put it on the bill like every other hotel you’ve stayed at) We were there 4 days, the glass in the main front door was shattered already when we got there, and was still not fixed when we left - first impressions don’t matter, clearly. The location was incredible, but this is NOT a four star hotel
