“Lovely neighbourhood. Close to great historic sites, antique stores, bars and fantastic restaurants. Beautiful inn and the staff were very accommodating. The only set back is the lack of security - the front door is 'locked' with a chain lock - no dead bolt.”

“We changed from two-person to family (+ two kids) in the last moment. They managed to provide reasonable arrangement. The location is excellent, very close to the main street with many good restaurants. Both the free breakfast and pre-dinner wine-and-cheese are better than what we expected from a local non-chain hotel.”

“I would happily stay here again! Alex, the owner, served breakfast each day and chats with people. Leroy, the manager, is friendly, helpful, and welcoming. You couldn’t pick a better location in Williamsburg to be close to W&M or Colonial Williamsburg. Parking is behind the building and it was easy to get in and out. The area is quiet at night and very safe. I had high expectations when I booked my stay here and they were exceeded! Everything you’d expect and want from a B&B.”

“We booked a quick weekend retreat to visit the national D-Day memorial in Bedford and any other things. Our room was comfortable, spacious and well appointed; just sorry we did not have more time to take advantage of all common rooms in our one night stay. \The Inn is a short trip to Lynchburg and we thoroughly recommend this to anyone visiting that area. There are nearby attractions like Appomattox historical site, and the Maier museum at Randolph College in Lynchburg has a superb……

“We just enjoyed the best two nights here! We loved learning about the history of the Inn and the place is so well preserved. The innkeeper and chef were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was so delicious both mornings. The location was great as well. Almost everywhere we wanted to go regardless of the direction was 15-20 minutes away. There was an amazing pizza place right around the corner that we would definitely suggest going to. We highly recommend this inn and will surely be……

“ Beautiful place to stay. Super clean, great hospitality. Amazing breakfast served. Comfortable bed in the Glen Allen Suite. Not the inn's fault, but there is a train that runs nearby every 30 min up til 2a and begins again at 6a. Other than the train horn, it is super quiet, no road noise.”

“Great location and stay. Beautifully decorated inn. First day breakfast was outstanding but second day was a bit more average quality. Fruits and eggs from premises. Bed was very high 4 poster and required stairs for me to get in so a bit nervous on safety but very comfortable for sleeping. Snacks and beverages in kitchen with excellent coffee machine. Overall, we would stay at this location again. ”

“Perfect location, helpful staff, very clean. Basic breakfast included was tasty, though a bit limited. Pleasant terrace adjacent to dining area for breakfast or relaxation. Bed a bit firm for my tastes, but overall would not hesitate to stay again and definitely recommend Fife & Drum.”

“Less than a mile walk to Colonial Williamsburg. Only offers street parking. The Inn at 605 has a lot of colonial charm however the cleanliness was poor. There were clumps of hair in the shower and bathroom floor, toilet was dirty, numerous stains on carpet and spiderwebs in windows and on nightstand lamps. We choose to get breakfast elsewhere due to the lack of cleanliness of the Inn. ”
