"I needed a nearby (I live in San Diego) getaway while some work was being done on my house. I also have a dog, so wanted someplace where I could exercise him and not feel like I was in an urban setting. The Apple Tree was a perfect spot for a two day get away. The room was a nice no-frills room with a comfy bed. The restaurant across the street (Heroes) and the breakfast place about a block away (Mom's) were both very dog friendly. Wynola is close enough to Julian (5 minutes by car) that on the second day I could just zip over and have lunch on the porch of Romano's (good Italian) and then in the evening, watch the night sky from vista point (Julian is a dark community). The hotel has a nice area in the back with rocks and paths for a small dog to wander around. Will definately return"

"Outstanding hidden gem. Easy walk into Julian. Very quiet and the star gazing was awesome. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. Happy hour until 530 includes 2 drinks per guest and morning breakfast was excellent. We will stay here again "

"We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit. It was perfect for 4 adults. Plenty of room. The kitchen was stocked with dishes. We would certainly stay here again. The only down side, lots of stairs from the parking lot to our unit on the second floor."

"We arrived very late Thursday night due to a house plumbing problem and wanted someplace close to our home. I had booked online ahead of time, but our reservation showed for the next day for some reason. Mo, the front office clerk, took the time to call Expedia for us. After some time on the phone, at least 30 minutes or more, he was able to work with them to change our reservation for the same day. We really appreciate Mo's hospitality and willingness to help us. He provided excellent customer service! Room was very clean and we liked that it had no carpeting, all linoleum. Will definitely stay again if needed! Breakfast included a cheese omelet, fruit & pastries, coffee. "
