"My wife and I stayed at Makanas for 10 nights on May 2024. We definitely enjoyed our stay. The studio is nice ans has everything for the stay. The staff (Vane and Leysi are the best) was awesome and prepared the best waffles and gallo pinto ever for breakfast! I would HIGHLY recomend that if you did not rent a 4 wheeler or a car, find somewhere else to stay because Makanas is very far as a walking distance from either bars/restaurants/supermarkets, and taxis are extremely expensive "

"This place is gorgeously curated but somehow marrying a modern, upscale vibe. The beach club is spacious and well appointed with tables and loungers - it could be a beachfront nightclub in the evening - but also fun toys like slack lines and ping pong. The perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail, the sunset, and the hermit crab rush hour. The pool is beautiful but seldom used by anyone durning my stay."

Fiona, the owner is super nice and helpful, Leah who helps with guest services is super nice and responsive and Toro is the best surf instructor!"

"My 4 young adult kids (ages ranging from 28 - 35) and I spent four nights at Casa Bribri between Christmas and New Years. The house manager, Andrea, found a rental car and 2 four-wheelers for us at the very last minute, sped up the check-in process for those in our party that arrived early, stocked the frig as requested, set up a surf lesson and provided good recommendations for bars and restaurants. She was very helpful and a good communicator!! The housekeepers were also amazing. They were so kind, took very good care of Casa Bribri and us, and I was very grateful for them. The ocean view from Casa Bribri is incredible, and there was certainly plenty of room for our party of 5. The kids surfed a lot and spent a lot of time in the pool. We had a big dinner party (15 people) at the house and managed to get everyone around the dining room table. I am hesitant to make any negative comments because we did enjoy our stay, however, I wished that I had understood that the house is - with the exception of the bedrooms - completely open to the outside. Even the showers and sinks in the two ensuites and in the shared bathroom are open air. This, or course, means that there is no air-conditioning except in the bedrooms, and it was really hot and humid during our stay. "Two minutes from the surf" is not really accurate although the beach is accessible across the main road and down a side street. The floors throughout the house need to be refinished and are slippery."
