Great fall getaway!
My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary trip at this location. There are plenty of activities to do local. Owners are friendly and quick to respond to any questions. I would recommend this for any couple trying to get a short getaway.

Rare opportunity to stay right on Lk Michigan
You're right on Lk. Michigan and there is a big window to watch from, along with a balcony and stairway down to the beach. It's a lot of steps but if you're in reasonable shape it's no problem. It's a quiet completely safe area. I would not worry about leaving it unlocked and slept with the door and all the windows open. I was expecting a bit more of kitchen facilities and it really is not set up for food preparation beyond making a sandwich. There's not really anywhere to wash dishes, so be prepared to do takeout and paper plates. But that's a minor adjustment for the opportunity to being right on the big lake.

The owners were kind enough to help us with rebooking twice! And it was worth the effort. We enjoyed having direct access to Lake Michigan for long walks along the beach as well as quiet evenings on the deck serenaded by wind & waves. Can’t wait to return!

View of Lake Michigan was awesome, sunsets were beautiful. Owners were friendly and accommodating. Room did have a slightly musty smell and the hair dryer does need to be replaced, but overall we were not disappointed.

Beautiful view, peaceful location.
This VRBO is private, but attached to the host's home. From the deck next to where you'll stay you'll have a stunning view of lake Michigan. It's not set up for cooking (mini fridge, microwave, and a combo coffee maker/toaster oven) but they provide plenty of firewood for the fire pit and we had a full steak dinner we cooked on our second night there and enjoyed a lovely sunset while we ate. Over a mile of beach to walk along if you so choose and you can sit by the water in front of the rental if you want. There is wi-fi, we preferred to rest and disconnect from our busy lives and this is a great spot to do it. You will be staying between the neighbor's house and the Host's and you will have to be mindful of light/noise (porch light can shine right into neighbor's open windows) so not the place I would recommend for visitors who want to play music/night owls. It's definitely a lovely spot for quiet reflection/enjoyment.

3 days not enough!
Completely relaxing stay at your beautiful beachfront room! 3 days flew by so fast. Planning on coming back next year already! Our only concern was the steps down from the breakwater to the beach! Rather hard to navigate ! Good luck with the November election!

Not having a kitchen area took a little getting used to... but by the 2nd day we pretty much figured out how to operate things and life was just fine :) Shirley and Gary were great hosts. The view was breathtaking. Look forward to staying with them again next June.

Good view terrible treatment
Me and my family stayed 2 nights. First off there is no kitchen and the electric grill did not work to cook breakfast. I was accused of stealing 2 spoons and to send her spoons in the mail since I know her address. The owners LIVE in the same house, with just a door blocking and they stay the entire visit. View is great. The stairs to the beach are brand new but not to safe for a toddler. Stay if you like but it isn’t worth the money they charge. Texting on my personal cellphone to say I stole her spoons and to send in the mail is just UNprofessional.

peaceful getaway with fantastic views
Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay here on the way up north to a family wedding. We had a fabulous time walking the beach and swimming in the lake. The cottage is situated in a very quiet and relaxing setting, and it felt like we had our own private beach space to play and enjoy. Owners were kind and helpful. Spectacular sunsets and views!!!

We stayed for tyree nights with our two young boys to give them a taste of summer on lake Michigan and it didn't disappoint. Panoramic views of the water and steps down to the beach. There's a nice deck to lounge and large fire pit and grill to cook on. Owners are kind and relaxed. Only quibble are that the tap water was pretty rusty so we bought bottles for drinking.

Personal Retreat!
If you are looking to get away for rest and solitude, this cottage is perfect! The lake view & evening sunsets are magnificent. The deck and stairs down to the private beach are very nice. The cottage isn’t really set up for cooking, but I knew that from other reviews so I planned ahead and took meals that fit nicely in the mini fridge. There’s a nice microwave & small coffee pot (4 cups). If you’re a big coffee drinker, I would suggest taking your own :) Everything was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. Shirley & Gary provided info about the area and were extremely nice people!

Not safe for rental and host will not respond to complaints.
Despite rave reviews, property was unsafe and suspect of major mold/mildew issues. Carpet was extremely old and dirty. Decking w/out railing, home eroding into Lake Michigan. Light fixture wires showing, ceiling tiles falling down, no privacy in bathroom, water smells badly, home host adjacent to rental makes noises late night. Difficult to endure one overnight.

Cozy with an amazing view ❤
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We arrived later in the evening and were cozily welcomed by a roaring fire with the sound of the waves crashing on the beach below. The suite was clean and had so many extra little touches that made us feel so taken care of. It is clear the owner strives to create a memorable and special experience for his renters. The stairs to the beach were really nice, seemed new. The beach was very private and was a great spot to enjoy a lake Michigan sunset. We will most likely make this an annual thing!

Location is perfect
We truly enjoyed our stay at Shirley and Gary's place. They were very accommodating and the space what just what we needed. Overwhelmingly, the beach access is what makes this property stand out! We walked for hours along the beach in total solitude on a beautiful morning--one of the best experiences of our trip. Just a short drive into Manistee or up along the coast to other cute towns. Wonderful experience.
