Areas & Neighborhoods in Green Bay
Green Bay may be home to the world's greatest sports team and some of the best beer and cheese curds available to humanity, but there are plenty of things to do for the whole family and—gasp—even non-football fans.
Lambeau Field
If you are in Green Bay on a Sunday—or possibly Thursday or Monday—during the right time of year, go to a game. Seriously. If you are in town any other day of the year, you have to go to the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame to discover the history of the storied franchise.
Downtown
While the city may seem entirely devoted to its hometown team, the downtown area offers terrific dining options, theaters, and a children's museum. Don't forget to check out the 120-year-old Bay Beach Amusement Park for classic rides and fair food.
Surrounding Area
For those looking for a change of pace, head to Door County to see its seemingly limitless supply of cute shops, quaint villages, and year-round Christmas stores.
What to See in Green Bay
The Fox River cuts through the center of the city, and the numerous riverside kayak rental shops allow you to paddle along and see the city from a different vantage point. Ambitious adventurers can head out into Lake Michigan to see why the bay is so green and to take in views of the city.
Sightseeing in Green Bay
Did we mention Lambeau Field yet? The Green Bay Packers? Well, regardless of whether or not you're a fan of the team or even football, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is a massive spectacle devoted to a single team's evolution through the years. Travel back in time to the Ice Bowl, sit at Vince Lombardi's desk, and line up in a 3-point stance next to Reggie White. You can also get to know the mythical John "Blood" McNally, who typified the wild early days of the NFL. According to legend, he once had a couple drinks and climbed down the face of a Chicago hotel to recite poetry to some female fans.
Once you've had your fill of football, head to a Green Bay brewery for a cold one. Titletown Brewing Company, Hinterland Brewery, and Badger State Brewing Company all offer local-favorite lagers and ales as well as traditional fare like deep-fried cheese curds and Friday fish fry.
If you are looking for kid-friendly activities, you can't go wrong with The Children's Museum of Green Bay, which offers hands-on science exhibits as well as a special section for toddlers. You can also visit Bay Beach Amusement Park to ride a Ferris wheel, launch yourself down a giant slide, or fly in the Chairplane. No matter where you started your journey, end it with a leisurely ride back to the airport in a town car or SUV.
