Beautiful Property, Comfortable Cabin
The grounds were lovely and we spent a lot of time exploring. Our dog had a great time, so did we- beautiful hiking nearby and we loved Owen Valley Winery, also very close. The cabin is great, we really didn't need to leave much! Fabulous location for the 2024 Eclipse.

Sunshine and birdsongs
This cabin and property were even more beautiful than the pictures show! Inside was clean, spacious, and beautiful. It had everything we could possibly need with plenty of living space for two adults and two dogs. Bathrooms were pristine, kitchen lacked nothing, and bed was very comfy. The cabin sits up on a rise in the center of the property with gorgeous views all around of the fields, woods and branches of the creek. We sat for hours in the sunshine on the deck playing cards, reading, and listening to the birds while our dogs explored safely all around. It was heaven! Communication with the host was easy and very pleasant and we will definitely return! McCormick State Park was within 15 minutes with well-tended trails and beautiful scenery. Green’s Bluff Trail was stunning and definitely worth hiking ( 5 min away.) Owen Valley Winery is adorable, as is the town of Spencer. Bloomington was a reasonable drive for a walk through campus and a tour of town. Plenty to do in this area, and a fantastic place to stay, especially with dogs! Thank you Gerry for being such a sweet host!

Everything we were looking for and more!! Total seclusion in the woods but 20 min. to 24 hr. Store.
Didn't want to leave. Our dog has never been on a vacation. with us before. He loved as much as we did. Every single person we talked to was so nice. Hoosier hospitality at its finest.

Beautifully secluded property. Amazing views. Everything you need to prepare and serve meals. Comfy bed. Large open rooms. Close to state park and other hiking in area. We loved being able to bring our dog, and he loved the property and the wrap around deck giving him looks all around. We would like to experience a different season next time. Fall was amazing and I’m guessing Spring and Summer would be too!

Rustic Cabin
Our stay in Gerry's little slice of heaven was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. VERY quiet. Bed was comfortable as were the pillows. We needed to turn on the heat because the temperature dropped by night fall. We were quite comfortable. The cabin has beautiful views from every window. It was a pretty, rural drive to McCormick Creek State Park. Trail #7 was our favorite. Green Bluff Nature Preserve was directly behind the cabin and was a petty walk as well. We would stay again.

peaceful retreat on a beautiful piece of property
My husband and I and our 2 dogs had a lovely time here. The dogs could run free and enjoy a large place to roam, including a beautiful creek, wooded area, and fields. It might be out-of-the-way, but if that's what you're looking for, this is it. A winery and brewery are nearby, as well as several places to hike and some inexpensive restaurants.

This is the most beautiful place! The pictures don’t do it justice.
We stayed here for six weeks while our new house was being built. I wish it could have been longer. Geri is a great hostess, the cabin is cute and comfortable and had everything we needed. This property is incredibly!!

Great Place.
This place was amazing. We loved it off to your self. Our dog loved it also he did not have to be on his leash. Nice land to walk on creek also on property very easy to get to. Cabin was great. We saw some deer. If you didn’t want to leave you would not have to. We would go into Spencer about 15 minutes away for groceries and needs. I would definitely recommend this place if looking for somewhere to unwind from daily activities.

Absolutely beautiful veiw. Sitting on the wraparound porch and listening to the babling Creek was so peaceful. Different view on all sides. Peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely recommend. We visited winery and shops in town. Perfect get away.

This is a poor man's Montana
The creek looks like something out of "A River Runs Through It". Our dogs released their inner canine and will never be happy with our tiny 3 acre property. The owner is great and the cabin has everything you need. The local attractions are not what you expect in the cornfields of Indiana. We will be back in the fall for a football weekend.

Fantastic
Such a beautifully located property! We thoroughly enjoyed the available hiking and utter relaxation the cabin and surrounding area provided. Gerry checked in a couple of times via phone calls to make sure we had everything we needed but, otherwise, the stay was completely private. Would definitely stay again!

Awesome property
A friend and I stayed here Nov 12-15, 2021. The property is beautiful and immaculately clean! We stayed here while we hunted in Hoosier National Forest. It is an easy drive from Bloomington and the owner is super nice and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this property!!

This was our second time at this property. It is a wonderful place to get away from it all! Peaceful and shady. There's a creek nearby that's a relaxing spot to go with a chair and sip on a bourbon.

This cabin is so much better than pictured or described. Cleanest VRBO ever! Everything you need is provided. Didnt have to use any of the kitchen utensils i brought. Nature surrounds you. The sights and sounds are so relaxing! Plenty of places near by to explore. The secluded, peaceful property is amazing! The creak and cliffs right on the property were great to explore. We were greeted by a family of ducks as we headed down to the water. A young deer came to visit us as well. Cant say enough about what a relaxing stay this was. Thankyou for sharing this beautiful cabin and property with others

Quiet and relaxing
This is a nice, quiet, secluded spot. We could hear the nearby creek when we were outside. We saw squirrels and chipmunks. We did see deer tracks but no deer. The negative was that we would have liked curtains or blinds on the bedroom windows to close when we wanted.

This is the third time that we have stayed here, and it really is my husband's "happy place"! The spring flowers were beautiful! And there was plenty of wildlife to be seen! Peaceful doesn't even begin to describe the sound of the rushing water and the birds singing in the trees. We truly love it here!!

The cabin is blissfully secluded, and came with everything we needed for cooking, hanging out, and relaxing. After wandering around the surrounding creek and forest ridges, made a trip out to the Green's Bluff Trail Head, which was a lovely and easy hike. All highly recommended!

It was exactly what we wanted.
This is a "remote" location, which is what we were looking for. We were still a close enough driving distance to Bloomington and other attractions we wanted to see (McCormick's Creek). The cabin was our "home base" and we looked forward to coming back each evening to sit by the campfire or just relax in the quiet away from town.

Magical getaway
The cabin and property are just beautiful. It is secluded but open, peaceful but inviting adventure. The main property is the kind of magic place that kids could explore from dawn to dust, and adults can find contemplative and relaxing. There is great natural beauty both on the property and in the adjoining nature preserve. We had our dog with us and she had a blast running around. It doesn't hurt that we had perfect weather while we were there. Oh, and the cabin itself? It's lovely and comfortable. It quickly felt like home. Next time we will be sure to stay longer.

Perfect seclusion
This property far exceeded my expectations. The home was cozy and the uncovered windows allowed the outside to be experienced when inside. This was a wonderful get away for my dog and I to play in the creek and catch minnows, crawdads and frogs. There was plenty of woods to hike through, and a fire pit to enjoy on the early mornings and evenings. Sleep came easy. Gerry, the owner, lives next to the property and she was very kind and available if I needed anything. David, her son, also checked in to make sure everything was fine. Of all the places I have stayed over the years, this is without a doubt the best.

Peaceful Retreat
We were amazed from the moment we pulled down the private drive. The pictures do not do the property justice. During our 3.5 day stay we enjoyed hanging our hammocks over the creek; wading the creek with the dogs; listening to the cicadas during the day and katydids at night; hiking with our dogs along the property in the morning; and enjoying the relaxing breeze on the deck - the swivel papasan chairs were my personal retreat! The kitchen was well stocked with any tool we might need and the cookware was decent quality (something you don't always find at a rental cabin!). There was serving ware, quality dinnerware and even decent tupperware! The cabin had everything - even extra supplies for your four-legged bestie! Every time you turn around your eyes will spot a new treasure Gerry has placed on the wall, a ledge or a beam. You can tell there's some love in this cabin! It's only about 20 minutes to McCormick's Creek and about 30 to Cataract Falls - we enjoyed both during our stay! The only slight downfall - and I do mean slight: if you are a light sleeper, consider bringing a foam topper for the bed to absorb some of your movement. It is firm and comfortable, but also creaky (old, beautiful frame). I'm so happy we found this little gem and cannot thank Gerry enough for sharing a little piece of her sanctuary with strangers.

The perfect escape
This cottage was the perfect little escape from Chicago — tucked away in the woods with creek views and the occasional cows. My gf and our dog loved it. There are plenty of windows in which the sun can peak inbetween the trees. The deck and it’s frequent guest, a hummingbird, was the perfect place to sample all the bourbon we bought in Kentucky and the creek was the best spot to sip coffee, while the dog played in water. ...this is how my husband described Gerry’s lovely property as we begrudgingly drove away from it. We originally planned to stay three nights and then added on two additional nights because we loved the place so much! It is equipped with everything you could need. It’s next to a nature preserve with great hiking. There are tons of hiking and park activities within 20 minutes. The scenery is stunning. The owners and wonderful. If you want total relaxation in a gorgeous setting, this is the place!
