This is a very nice, well maintained property in an excellent location. Super close to the port if you’re going on a cruise (I personally was not), close to other spots of interest, and within walking distance of public transportation options. My room was quite good, though it had some flaws, mainly the lack of lighting. No overhead light in the main room (just by the doorway) and having just 3 lamps isn’t enough, especially on cloudy days.
The BIGGEST issue I had and the reason I would rate this 3.5 stars instead of 5 is the water situation. There was no way for me to get water without either drinking from the bathroom sink (eww, pass), or buying bottles of water from the gift shop. The vending machines in my floor was broken so I had to go the gift shop route, spending $4 for a bottle of soda and nearly $8 for a single bottle of water. I don’t know if this was a hotel thing or a San Diego thing, but it was shocking how much water was. I had to by at least 5 bottles since I was there for several day and doing a bit of walking. Having a spot to refill water bottles like they do in airports and museums would have been nice, could have saved me some cash, and, most importantly, reduced the amount of plastic waste I ended up accumulating. I was there in April and can’t imagine how much worse this would be in the summer. This seems like an easy fix to instal filtered water fountains, not sure why it’s not being taken.
I would return, but definitely plan ahead.
