Average at best, not worth the money. Small rooms, no room to move. Shower broken, water on floor in shower areas, no bath mats. Water on floor in one of the bedrooms, the other bedroom floor was dirty. Hair on table in our room was not ours. Breakfast was okay.

Check-in and out was very easy. I liked that it was a few minutes’ walk to two waterfalls and a folk museum, as well as an excellent fish and chips cart. The breakfast provided for guests each morning was good, a wide variety of options were available. I was disappointed that this place didn’t have a full kitchen for cooking my own meals, but there was a microwave, electric kettle, and mini fridge available. Overall I would recommend this place as a budget friendly option.

Should provide more for the cost
Definitely not a hotel, or really a guesthouse… more of a hostel with private rooms. “shared bath” provides 2 toilets and showers for an entire hallway. Rooms are very very small. It’s fine but not for the price we paid! Breakfast was good and staff were helpful.

This place needs some love, but the staff was sweet, the rooms clean, the neighborhood fantastic: Cows, Skogafoss and the Skogar Folk Museum which is very underrated and should be more popular are all in walking distance. Fix up the hot tub, a little paint, better "kitchen" facilities for the self-cater and it would be SWEET. The public pool in Vik is excellent and you can shower there for 600kr.

It’s an old boarding school so our room (for two) was tiny and had a bed and a small sink; you have to walk across the hall to the bathroom. But the bathroom was a single and you can lock the door (not a “shared” bathroom). Breakfast was decent. WiFi was really good.

Interesting former boarding school, so it is more of a very basic hostel than a guesthouse. We booked a family room which was very spacious. Breakfast was great. Very close to 2 beautiful waterfalls, as well as a fabulous museum. Our only issue was being overbilled (booked thru Expedia for 370 euro for 2 nights, but charged 406 euro) for our stay, which we did not discover until after our return home since prepayment was processed prior to arrival. Attempts to contact the property to resolve this issue have been ignored, and Expedia was unable to resolve the issue either.

Hostel living at its finest
Guesthouse Kverna is a great place to overnight. I don’t think any of the rooms have an en-suite, so toilets and showers are down the hall. Great location, courteous staff, and the breakfast is great. Real eggs! The showers need updating and it takes a little while to get hot water. I recommend for the adventurous type.

Two big issues we had with the property: 1. The showers were broken creating a long line in the shared showers that looked to not have been cleaned anytime recently 2. They had the heater cranked all the way up. Our group is from Texas and it felt about like summer does there in our room. The rooms hold heat so well after turning down the radiator in our room it took 6-7hours to finally get to a reasonable temp.

This is a former residential school that has been converted to a guesthouse. They have small, concrete, dorm-style rooms (ours had a sink), shared bathrooms, large shared common spaces, and the largest range of breakfast food options we were served on our whole trip. Be warned, however, that the "gym" is basketball court with a couple of treadmills shoved up against the wall, the "spa" was not functional (not even quite sure what they meant by "spa"), and the "kitchenette" in the second building consisted of a single mini-fridge (to serve easily 50-60 guests), a kettle for boiling water, and a microwave. That said, the setting is pleasant and quiet, there's a rather good restaurant by the waterfall if you want to eat something not microwaved or boiled, and it's a perfectly suitable place for backpackers or folks looking for an inexpensive place to stay.
