Zero miles to Paradise 😍

“Eulenhaus” or “Owl house”

A quiet retreat without the noises of humans. Off the main road in the middle of gorgeous cedars just 200 yards off the beaches of Lake Huron.

Waves rolling onto the beach, the eagles are soaring and the dear are looking right into your window. Sorry, no hunting on the property.

An outside fire pit and a porch on two sides of the house are ideal to hang out. Outside dining on a table that seats at least 10 under the front porch roof.

The heart of the home is the kitchen. The humongous island seats a lot of people.
Best place for playing cards, rolling the dice or mixing up a pitcher of whatever drink you like. Having business conferences, planing big business is not a problem with the high speed internet! Take your employees on a road trip and get there spirits rekindled.

A gorgeous stainless steel gas grill with 5 burners and a side burner for the “chef” assists with cocking and extends the kitchen to the outside.

In front of the House is a fire pit for wood or charcoal fires. More possibilities to cuddle up and enjoy s’mores.
A grate on top - and you bring the steaks!

The house has all amenities. Refrigerator with freezer, hot and cold water, sewer system, Forced air heat, fully functioning kitchen, including silverware, dishes, utensils, plates, bowls, etc.. Waffle iron, coffee maker (round drip), microwave, ninja blender, electric kettle and a quesadilla-maker. Additional freezer chest on request.

Stocked with linens and towels.

There is a smart TV, DVD player and a radio with CD player.

4 fishing poles are available for your convenience. You have to get your fishing or hunting license yourself!

Two inflatable rafters are available.

„Eulenhaus“ Cottage is located on the east side of Bois Blanc Island, 5 miles from Cheboygan on the mainland where most visitors embark by scheduled seasonal ferry service or year round air service.

"Eulenhaus" Cottage offers 10 guests the ultimate in comfort and peaceful solitude. A 2 side porch and a open and spacious living area with a fully equipped kitchen, all off the covered porch are a few of the best features. We can provide sleeping for 10.

Go swimming right off the beach in a very remote bay at „Hohe Tannen“ or at "Snow Beach" Bay just 1.5 miles from the cottage, or hike, bike, hunt, ski or run on the primarily flat dirt roads and trails. Winter is adventure season. Cross the ice bridge with your snowmobile!!

A year-round destination. For guests who prefer the winter time - snow mobil and country cross skiing on endless trails are only some of the possibilities. From December-April there is a caterer gourmet service located on the island to order breakfast, lunch and dinner or order groceries by plane.

Visitors and residents alike appreciate the remote and quiet lifestyle that the Island offers, with a variety of outdoor and sporting activities to suit every style and taste.

The museum shows you the history of Bois Blanc Island in the Straits of Mackinac.
The year round population of 90 people swells into the thousands as families, sportsmen, athletes, college students, boaters and campers are attracted to the island for it's many seasonal offerings.

Daily car and passenger ferryboat service during May to November as well as an air taxi service in commuter prop planes keep folks connected with the mainland communities of Cheboygan, St. Ignace, and Pelleston International Airport. Or take kayaks or a plane to Makinaw Island. It’s just a short distance stopping at Round Island and visiting the private island.

Bois Blanc Island is a 4 hour drive north from Detroit and a 45 min. boat ride from Cheboygan.

Just nature!!! The ideal spot for all hunters, anglers, hikers, bikers, naturists and water sports. Or just get away from all and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

From the moment I booked this property, the Ms Ben was responsive. She reached out asking if I needed anything or had questions about the area/property. The home was cozy and clean. The kitchen was stocked with ample dinnerware, pots/pans, and even storage containers. During my stay, Ms Ben even helped me with directions to specific locations on the island that my GPS couldn’t find. Will definitely book again. The kids are already asking if we can come back.

Very nice home and manager. Everything was clean and orderly. The home was further north on the island. Great access to Lake Huron, however.

This place has major potential and pros, but unfortunately it as some cons. I don't want to be negative towards the property owner, but maybe some constructive criticism. First, it was apparent they do not thoroughly clean the place between guests. We arrived with beds not even being made up and some general cleaning needed to be done. Secondly it is very confusing on the household products included. We had to request toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, garbage bags. They provide a limited supply. In fact we were required to haul the trash and you pay for anything over 1 bag. The dump place was closed when we left, so we had to haul the trash all the way home. Another thing is the occupants in the downstairs bedroom all ended up with severe bug bites on our bodies. Face, legs, arms, lower back. It is very hard to figure out what types of bites. I did notify the manager, but never heard back. She was going to investigate. Being it was a wooded area with water, it could be spiders, no see ums, or something. Maybe need to be educated on how to prevent that. Although that may seem a big amount of cons, I will say it was a fun, beautiful experience. The island is so friendly to everyone, the tavern and beaches are amazing, and the manager is a sweet woman. Just needs a few changes to the guest experience.

I would not go back again. there is absolutely nothing else to do there besides stay in your cabin. There are no trails, no landmarks, no hiking and 95% of the beach access is private. We spent an hour walking just to go to an area without houses so we could see the beach. There was one lighthouse on the island and absolutely no trail or markings of any kind to get to it, oh and its on private land so if you don't feel like trespassing, you cannot see it. It was just a really really big disappointment. Maybe if you can find to rent ATVs from a neighbor, no other way to rent them, then you can drive on the one road on the island. We watched TV at one point because we had spent 5 hours looking for the lighthouse, didn't find it and just gave up on trying to find anything else to do on the island.

Owl House
This was my first time ever renting a cabin and Miss Ben made it the most pleasant and wonderful experience! She was so patient and kind with me when I realized I had NO idea what I had gotten myself into (lol) by renting my firsT cabin on an island. She was so quick to respond to each of my text messages. The cabin was so beautiful inside and out. Miss Ben did a great job going above and beyond to make sure the cabin was fully stocked with necessities. We had such a wonderful time and met some great people! I can’t wait to come back and experience more of what this amazing island has to offer.

Great cabin in the woods with lots of sleeping space for just having one bedroom and a loft. Great wrap around deck with plenty of seating so you can enjoy the peace and quiet and a nice fire pit with plenty of additional seating. Saw a couple deer walk through the yard. Kitchen well stocked with all cooking essentials. Thanks for a great stay at the Owl House!

We had a great time during our long weekend at this cabin! We had never heard of the Island, but man is it beautiful! Not much to do but relax and unplug and it was PERFECT!!! We LOVED our cabin, very clean, and Miss Ben was an amazing host! She even brought a birthday cake as we were celebrating our Mom's 65th Birthday during that weekend! Plenty of room, very clean and Miss Ben was very responsive on the couple of questions that we had. We LOVED having dinner on covered porch every night!!! We are ready to go back!

Everything you could want and more!
One of our best family trips! SO clean! We enjoyed the large kitchen island and table for the 7 of us to eat and play cards. Appreciated the 4 queen size beds (didn't need the bunks). The table on the porch for sitting out was really nice and fires in the evenings were a lot of fun. Great beaches nearby, plentiful walking trails, we enjoyed a drive and gorgeous sunset views of the bridge in the evenings. Fun ferry ride and wonderful slower pace of life to get away for a break. Spacious bathroom and laundry as a bonus. Friendly locals and lots of wildlife! Miss Ben is such a wonderful and kind host. We can't wait to come back!
