Set in the resort town of Wanaka on the South Island, Pembroke Park is a peaceful green space in a city known as the gateway to the Southern Alps. From the park, enjoy staggering views of Mount Aspiring National Park. With its large lawns and skate park, Pembroke Park is a pleasant place to relax before or after your outdoor adventures.

Visit Pembroke Park on a weekend to shop at the Wanaka Sunday Craft Market. Explore many stalls exhibiting and selling arts and crafts, photography, pottery and more. The market runs from mid-October to mid-April.

Summer begins with the Willowridge Wanakafest in Pembroke Park. The family-friendly event offers something for everyone, from fashion and art to music, mountain biking and a pet parade. Watch the polar plunge, cardboard boat race, circus and more, all set in the relaxing park setting beside Lake Wanaka. Observe the Wanaka Urban Downhill mountain bike event, which happens during the festival. The showcase is full of jumps and tricks that wow the festival crowd along the town’s main street.

The Lake Wanaka Food and Wine Fest is part of the Willowridge Wanakafest, which celebrates the region’s food and wine. Enjoy the best Central Otago wines, chef-prepared foods and free musical entertainment.

Several triathlons set off from Pembroke Park, indicative of the active nature of Wanaka. Among the most popular events are the Puzzling World Junior Challenge Wanaka and the Challenge Wanaka. Watch the athletes or register to participate.

Be sure to visit Puzzling World, a short drive from the park and an excellent attraction for all ages. The Illusion Rooms, Puzzle Centre and Great Maze have baffled even the most avid puzzlers since 1973.

Use Wanaka as your jumping-off point for adventures on the South Island. Climb alongside Twin Falls. Go paragliding from Treble Cone Mountain. Cruise to Mou Waho island to meet the native buff weka. Ride horses through the Cardrona Valley.
