Just what the doctor ordered...
We had a great time, just not a long enough stay. Chris was a fabulous host and the conversations over hunting was icing on the cake. The cabin was perfect for what we needed and the location provided for the relaxation we were looking for.....sitting by the river while soaking up some late Fall sunshine took relaxation to another level. There were ALL positives and NO negatives for our visit and we definitely plan on visiting again. Thanks Chris !

Pet friendly Colorado paradise
Chris has done a wonderful job creating a special place to visit in Colorado. “Off the grid” in comfort. Very clean and comfortable space. Chris is a great host. Although his home is very close to the rental we didn’t feel like he was intrusive. We did enjoy talking with him and meeting a few of his friends that were over one afternoon. We had our 1 1/2 year old standard poodle with us and she loved the freedom this property gave her. Swimming in the river and chasing butterflies. There was a deck overlooking the river behind the property to use and enjoy the cool clear water. (Bring water shoes). Watching the hundreds of hummingbirds at the feeders was so entertaining! Secluded location was great for star gazing. If your tired of the beautiful views all around outside or weather isn’t cooperating there is a large TV and comfortable couch to use in the living room. We didn’t have cell connection with Verizon but Wi-Fi calling worked. Hope to see you again Chris. Look us up if your ever in Oklahoma!

Awesome host and property
We had the best time. Chris made us feel so welcome. Our barn cottage was cozy, clean and well done. We had everything we needed to make a wonderful meal. Our host even supplied the meat! While asking him about things to do on the property, we hit it off with him and asked if he’d hang out with us. His friendly, easy going personality helped us feel right at home. He let us know if we preferred, he would “disappear”. He understands some folks visit to get away and be alone. We however feel like we had a great Vrbo experience and made our first friend in Pagosa Springs. This is a wonderful property to relax, fish, soak in the river, float, archery, disc golf, enjoy nature, bbq, take a beautiful walk, etc. only 15 minutes to bars and restaurants too. We also loved that Chris would allow our dog to enjoy the property too. He’s pet friendly! So…if you want quiet seclusion or a party on the patio, this is the place for you.

Quiet getaway
This was a nice getaway location. Close enough to Pagosa Springs, but remote enough for a nice quiet relaxing stay. Chris, the Host was very welcoming and accommodating. The river is close and has a nice, covered deck/ cooking location to enjoy the river and swimming hole. We recommend it!

Beautiful & Private Riverside Oasis
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Barn! What a treat to have such a variety of experiences at our fingertips-- view the playful hummingbirds feeding & flying about, kick your feet up and relax on the cozy sofa & catch up on a show or two after a long drive day on a road trip, view the stars from the loft, eat a meal together in the breakfast nook while admiring the beautiful pine trees looking out the picture windows in hopes of sneaking a peek at the local wildlife, or float in the river just steps away from the porch. We did our best to take in all of the ample opportunities for relaxation and adventure that The Barn has to offer! And there are numerous places to explore, hike, visit, fish, raft, eat at, swim and take in the majestic views just a few minutes away in town. Chris is an excellent, welcoming, and gracious host. He has created his own little piece of paradise and we are grateful that he has provided us the opportunity to stay at his property, we will definitely be returning again!

Escape from life
This was perfect for my teenage kids. Room to explore, river to relax by, beautiful scenery, much cooler weather than Dallas. We ventured off to Mesa Verde approximately 2 hours away. Local river rafting was closed for business (mid July); but tubing on the river was still available. Definitely worth it. We have some great memories. The friendly owner lives next door, it was fun getting to hear from him. My kids enjoyed his stories. Thanks for sharing your cabin.

We spent 5 nights there - it was perfect. Loved the "Barn". Clean, cozy & so peaceful. Its only a short walk to the river - the sound of the rapids makes you want to take a nap. Loved the views also. Perfect place for a picnic. Chris is an excellent host, so kind & accommodating. We will let our friends know about this little hide a way. Thank you Chris for a wonderful stay. Bob & Liz

Chris... normally I'd reserve the feedback to the ladies but not this time. 1st of all the property was very welcoming and the views were fantastic. 2nd your suggestions on driving trails was spot on. My only regret is we don't live there so that I could become the friend you don't talk about.

We enjoyed our stay and really liked the house. Its a nice quaint size with a modern feel. The hummingbirds were fun to watch zip around the place and it was very quiet at night. We would love to come back to do more fishing off the river and to hear more of Chris (the owner) stories!

The Mountains were calling so I answered.......
I booked this cabin and then was met with a horrible review the very next day from a couple who said "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE". After reading their review and speaking with the property owner, I was put at ease. But mainly because of the reviewers statement.... I would have never just released my dogs in an unfamiliar place and go back to sleep? WTH. Bad dog owners first off. And the fact that they had Great Pyrenees, Dogs that are notoriously protective......Cabin was perfect! Had all the amenities you could possibly need. National Forest all around you, the adventures are endless. I had my German Shepherd with me, she loved loved this place, I had zero problems with her being unleashed. This is definitely a pet friendly place. If you're looking for a retreat where you have the river at your back door and the National Forest all around. This is the place for you. The Owner Chris was more than hospitable. The cabin was stocked so well, that I over packed. Dont let one bad review sway you! I will be back.

We were afraid for our lives!
My husband and I are in our late 60's. We were on a 2 week vacation in Colorado and stopped at this place for a planned 4 night stay. We arrived expecting a 5 acre private location and were surprised to see that there was another house within outstretched arms distance from the rental unit. This was not as described. We needed the space and privacy for our 2 large dogs to run. Turns out, owner lives in the house and assured us that it was ok for the dogs to run with a GPS fence around the perimeter. That it was "chill". That night we were up hourly with a dog who was ill and needed to go poo. About 8am we put GPS collars on both dogs, let them out and went back to sleep. The owner woke us up banging on the door some time later. He swore (very bad language) for a long time and threatened us repeatedly with the shotgun the he said he had in his house. He screamed the dogs were viscous and had barked at the girlfriend (who had come over for the night?) and had bitten him. (Huh? What?) He again threatened with his shotgun, stomped off and drove away. We have no idea what happened but saw no evidence of a dog bite. We were petrified. We packed up and left. End of vacation. Lost money. Other stuff: Full trash can on his porch with empty beer case and beer cans on the ground. Pillows ancient and stained. No amenities other than old towels, old sheets &1/2 bottle hand soap. We thought long and hard about the repercussions of this post, decided that people should know.

The views!!
We loved this little place! Clean and smelled fresh upon arrival. The views were amazing! We're from Oklahoma so we don't get those mountain views and here, they are 360. And so quiet! All we heard was the river running. We saw Elk right across the street too. 10 mins from downtown which was ideal. Ran into our host Chris one evening during our stay and chatted. Great privacy, warm, and comfortable stay. We were already talking about returning during the summer to Chris's place before we even left. Thanks Chris!!
