The property has the feel of an old summer beach house and it was perfect. It could use a new coat of paint and some renovations in the room but overall just had a fantastic time.

This hotel has become our new favorite "cheap" option for staying on the boardwalk with an amazing ocean view! The hotel is old and dated, but the price cant be beat and it is clean and has some good updates like the flat screen tv with all the hookups for streaming devices, newer AC units ect. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the location is right in the middle of the boardwalk with a foot shower and public bathroom 1/2 a block away. The cafe in the lobby is very convenient and great for some eat in breakfast and dessert items. We have stayed here twice so far and have another stay scheduled for later this year. I definitely recommend them, especially if you really just need a small place to sleep and shower on your vacation. The view and location for this price, can't be beat!

The Lankford was our favorite place for YEARS, Mary, Sarah, and their family were great. It’s so sad seeing The Lankford sell and go down hill quickly. Such a shame.

The staff, Stacie and John were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Definitely get your steps in walking up and down the stairs. Enjoyed the balcony off the 3rd level.

For the time of year we stayed at. Things were not open but that’s due to after season. But this was a clean hotel. Beautiful view of the ocean. The third floor balcony was great. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. I would stay here again.

The place looked outdated. The bedding was old. The thing I like about the place is the location. Having the boardwalk steps away was very convenient. I was especially fond of being able to hear the waves crashing on the shore as white noise to help me fall asleep, but the converse side of that was being able to hear cars revving their engines going down the strip. We just happened to be there at the same time as a car show, so I’m pretty sure they were just cruising the night away. Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives, and for one night, it did just fine.

Absolutely loved this charming old-fashioned hotel right on the OC Boardwalk! They have clearly made recent upgrades to the place like a new coat of paint, a fantastic on-site coffee/bagel bar, outdoor seating, etc. My friend & I needed an affordable room for 1 night for the music festival. We didn't care about a view or size of the room, just a clean place to sleep & shower. We got a cute, clean room with 2 single beds- perfect! The preservation of the beautiful wooden doors, the old tiles in the bathrooms, & little seating areas make this so funky & fun. You are about a 15 min walk from the amusement part of the boardwalk. The woman at check in was so nice & made it easy. Now, that all being said, I am not sure what other kinds of rooms they offer but for a quick trip to OC this place is GREAT!

Hidden Gem Tucked away on the Boards
Great location on the boardwalk. Easy access to restaurants and bars all in walking distance. Hotel is a group of older buildings, but kept up to date and very clean. Rooms are small , but comfortable. Your paying for the location and you can’t beat it!

Charming Hotel
The Lankford is a wonderful early 1900s hotel right on the boardwalk and a few steps away from the beach. The building is charming and has wonderful touches such as classic wood doors, moldings, wood banisters and antique style furniture throughout. The staff was very accommodating during our stay. We had a broken shower head and it was fixed within 20 minutes of notifying maintenance. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and most include a kitchenette with refrigerator, stove, microwave and other accoutrements to help save on eating out. Some things to keep in mind: The building is over 100 years old and is three levels. There is no elevator but we observed the staff helping an elderly guest up the stairs. We received clean towels every day and there was daily trash removal. The fixtures are not modern but are functional. There is no central HVAC so each room has its own A/C unit. Overall, the family enjoyed the stay and we would book at this charming hotel again.
