When the sun shines bright on Ocean City, visit Maryland Beach and bask in the family-friendly vibe. This northern tip of the resort’s shoreline boasts deep-blue Atlantic waters and fine golden sands. Plan to spend a day at Maryland Beach playing sports, enjoying the views and taking leisurely walks.
Come early in the morning and set up for a day on the shoreline. Very early risers can get here before the crowds and watch as the sun rises out of the Atlantic horizon. Bring your own chairs and umbrellas or rent some from the beach vendors. Pets are welcome to join you from October to April but should be kept on a leash at all times.
Lifeguards patrol the beach throughout the summer season and put up flags to mark the safe swimming areas. On hot days, alternate between taking a refreshing swim and topping up your tan. Out of the water, stay active by playing beach soccer and volleyball. Fly a kite and build sandcastles with the children.
Gently rolling waves make the Ocean City coastline a good location for bodyboarding, surfing and stand-up paddleboarding. The resort has two designated surfing areas, which change each day. Ask the lifeguards for more information. If you don’t have your own surf gear then rent from watersports shops located on the nearby Coastal Highway.
Book at one of the seafront accommodation options to benefit from uninterrupted coastal views. There are hotels and motels to suit most budgets, with most offering free guest parking facilities. Head to the Coastal Highway to discover miniature golf courses, supermarkets and varied drinking and dining.
Maryland Beach is located in the North Ocean City area. It’s about a 15-minute drive from Downtown Ocean City and the Ocean City Boardwalk. If you aren’t driving, consider catching the Coastal Highway Beach Bus from downtown. Swimming at the beaches of Ocean City is only permitted during the lifeguard hours.
