"Big Horse Inn is a hidden gem in this part of Illinois. It is perfectly located, close to Dickson Mounds (great hiking trails), Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge, and the Illinois/Spoon River area. "This hotel offered a modestly priced room that included a refrigerator and microwave, both much appreciated. The room was small, which is to be expected for a modestly priced accommodation. The bed and linens were clean as was the room generally. We happened to stay there when there were several different sets of noisy guests, which revealed how easily outside sound traveled into the room."

"The hotel in general was very dated. The repairs and updates seem to have DIY and they were not done professionally. Again the overall area was not clean although our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The washcloths and towels were very worn.
