Location, location Location
This house has an ideal location to see lots of local sites of interest in the Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie area. Easy trip from there to West Point, Hyde Park and the Culinary Institute from the location, and great restaurant, Tiramasu, is very close. The house is immaculate! The beds were very comfortable, linens were provided, the bathrooms were spacious and the five of us had plenty of room for our toiletries. The house has steps to its multiple levels for all essential rooms, not accessible. We only cooked breakfast in the house, but there were sufficient pans, toaster, and microwave available. It would help if there were directions provided for using the appliances, thermostat, and tv, all appliances are very high end and instructions would help in using the touchpads. It would be great to have checking out instructions I posted somewhere in the kitchen. You will need a four wheel drive vehicle to make it up the very steep driveway, it took us several tries even with it. I have rented many VRBO homes, this is a very nice one, we were not disappointed. I thank our hosts for working with us during our stay, it was a wonderful trip for us.

Beautiful accommodations for large family/ friends but needs a few more improvements
Overall we had a nice stay but there are a few things that future guests should be aware of and some improvements I feel are needed to make the stay more comfortable. Pros: The house was very clean. Beds are very comfortable!! Rooms are a good size and the living room had a cozy fireplace with blankets for many to enjoy. Updates to the kitchen and bathrooms were modern and nice. Kitchen has many pots and pans and cooking utensils stocked and there is a K cup coffee maker and a regular one available. Cons: The driveway needs paved. The rocks/thick gravel were difficult to navigate and for us and for our family when we had to drive up. We ordered pizza one night and met the guy at the bottom of the hill to spare him from driving up. There are no towel racks in the main bathroom. We had 5 people using that bathroom and there no where to hang their towels and to know who had which towel. Plenty of wall room to install some. Lastly, the downstairs bedroom was way colder than the rest of the house by about 10 degrees. I sugguest a space heater for downstairs to account for the temperature difference so the rest of the house isn't sweating.

Uphill battle
It's a very nice place but as others have noted, the driveway is not for the faint of heart. Wet, slick leaves hampered the drive uphill unless you have AWD, which we do not. Drip coffeemaker was moldy because grounds hadn't been removed. Surprised there was no grill. And the property may encompass four acres but they are not user friendly acres. Plenty to do in the area, however, and the place is pretty and comfortable.

Loved the house! So neat & clean! No presence of Spiders at all! There are lots of stairs so I wouldn’t book this one if you can’t do stairs. And the driveway is very steep. We would have felt better if we had a 4 wheel drive. The house is lovely and we did love it overall!

Lovely updated home
The house was clean and completely updated and renovated with nice touches like a Nest thermostat. We didn’t cook but the kitchen was very well stocked. We found the beds to be very comfortable and of good quality. The layout is a little odd with bathrooms on different levels than the bedrooms and with the exterior door to the house opening into a lower level bedroom, but it worked fine for us. The driveway is gravel and is steep and there are steps up to the house. Again, no problem for us but good to be aware.

Overall a nice place
Our overall review is positive but just for others to know and plan - like the other reviews said, the driveway is a little difficult to drive up (steep gravel driveway with a curve), there are quite a few stairs to walk up to the property and the layout of the home is a little funny (tri-level). We escorted several large spiders out of the home - a little scary as they were found in the beds that our young children were sleeping in. There was several ants in the bathroom and along the main entrance. It doesn't say this in the rules but when we got the address and check in info, we were told that no shoes were allowed in the home (typically we follow this rule in our own home but it was different being in someone else's home). The listing says that check out is 11 but got a text the day we were supposed to leave saying check out was 10. It was a big enough space for our 8 people family and not too far from things to do. Nicely renovated as well.

The kitchen and family room were great with all new appliances and plenty of seating space. The ice maker always had ice for us. Nice area with privacy. There were several throw blankets, which was also nice while sitting to watch tv. The driveway is no joke - if you don’t at least have a small suv, it may be difficult getting up there. There are lots of steps, so that could be an issue for some people. The bottom door walks into a bedroom. This bedroom was loaded with tiny spiders all over the ceiling and windows. We spent about an hour and a half or so trying to smush them all with wet paper towels. Communication with the owner was fine before we got there, however, did not answer any messages during our stay (of which we had a few).

This house might have the weirdest layout I've ever seen, and if you don't like stairs, it's not for you. But it was clean, warm and very inviting. We would definitely stay here again!

Finishes are new but...gurgles and spiders and hairs, oh my!
Giving it a 2+. I really really wanted to complement the place but it was a struggle. The home was renovated with beautiful finishes however, some things made our stay very challenging. We knew what to expect with other posts describing the many stairs and steep driveway so those weren’t a problem. The place was only superficially clean. Before the rest of my family arrived, I cleaned the hair out of the shower drains, changed one set of sheets with hair from what could have been a pet. The floors and counters were “touched up” leaving some sticky areas. The plumbing (toilets) gurgled. This was funny until it wasn’t funny (enough said!). We encountered livestock mostly in the bathrooms (spiders, crickets, etc.) on a daily basis. Probably due to the dampness of the home. The kitchen was missing some critical items. We were only there for breakfast mostly. There were 5 coffee cups for 7 people. We purchased 2 cups for the cause. No spatula or hot pads. No outside trash cans. There was a compost bin, but no instructions for the other trash. Actually, no instructions at all in the home. They did have many ancillary items such as coffee pods, sugar, creamers, soap, which was very nice. Not terrible by any means but not what we expected.

House of many stairs
Good property for families with their own transportation. We were 2 couples age 7o+, the steps are in every level. No bath on the floor with 3 bedrooms. Entry door enters a bedroom. We had no car so the remote location was challenging. The beds are very comfortable, property was very clean and furnishing are reflected well in photos-just be aware of stairs.

Serene and modern oasis surrounded by nature.
This was a much needed getaway for us and this property was perfect! The house was spacious and clean, the beds were comfortable. The main bathroom especially is gorgeous. There was plenty of room to relax both indoors and outside and we found the house had everything we needed for a great weekend away. Be aware there is a very steep gravel driveway to access the property and a lot of stairs. This wasn’t an issue for our group but it could be for other travelers. Overall it was a fantastic stay and we would definitely return!

Wonderful place to stay!
This was a great place… and we use VRBO often! The owners provided a lot of little things that typically were overlooked, like creamer, coffee, soap, TP, and so much more. The house had a unique set up with three bedrooms up stairs and the master on the ground floor. It was perfectly clean and nicely appointed. Thank you for a great stay! We will be back!
