"I cannot say enough about one of the best Vrbo stays we've had. The property is just as pictured. Quaint, cozy and fully stocked with just about anything you could possibly need for your stay. And the history of the cottage is interesting. Although we were plagued by rain during our stay, we did have enough of a clearing on our 2nd day to enjoy the views from the back deck while enjoying our morning coffee from the dual brew/Keurig coffeemaker. We slept comfortably, relaxed, and were able to enjoy a concert in Charlottesville, which is a short ride away. We have already decided that this will be our base when we return. A million stars for the Shade Tree Cottage!"

"We had a wonderful time in Cottage 39. We were in town for a wedding and wanted a little bit of space for our family of 4. This was the perfect spot. We didn't get to spend a lot of time on property because of wedding activities, but we did take advantage of the free mini golf as well as the outdoor and indoor pools at the lodge. The kitchen was great for making breakfasts to start our busy days. We would definitely stay here again."

"My dog loved the smells and just wanted to stand on the front patio and sniff as horses grazed nearby or looked back at her. The interior of the cottage was delightful, very clean with very comfy bed and full kitchen. I enjoyed walking around the property in dawn's early light and met several workers who were very friendly and ready to address a tree that had fallen across one of the trails. There are at least two wedding venues on the property which may give an idea of how scenic and beautiful it is."

"The cottage is on beautiful immaculate well tended land. It abuts a farm with cows, an old barn and silo. I sat in the grass with my dog every afternoon and took in the unobstructed majestic beauty of the sunset over the blue ridge mountains. Smoked my cigar on the porch in the morning with my coffee. To say this property is relaxing is an understatement. Nothing dangerous for my dog to explore and poke around. I recommend bringing food you can put in a toaster oven, firewood, newspaper to start fire and a coffee maker. The cottage is rural, but has good bones, comfy couches, and a warm fireplace. Plenty of kindlin around. The house has a good strong heating system (takes time to rev up, so be patient) and the WiFi was strong throughout my entire 5 night stay. And amazing coffee at East Maui Cafe just a 7 minute drive away. I could go on. Suffice it to say, I will return next year for a solo retreat with my dog."
