Nestled in a private wooded corner of Coffee Creek this home rests in the heart of a bustling downtown. Stroll a block to visit shops, restaurants, bars, winery, DIY art studio, European market, and see one of the many trains gliding on the close-by tracks. Enjoy the many amenities: Roku TV, WIFI, wireless printer, loaded kitchen, 4 miles to Indiana Dunes beaches, National Park, Outlet Mall, Valparaiso University, casino, candy factory or train/drive 50 miles to Notre Dame & Chicago.

This home, situated in the heart of the downtown of Chesterton and near the trails of Coffee Creek Park, which gives it a country look. It features a wooded area and large yard for grilling out and relaxing. This home has everything you need to enjoy your stay. All three bedrooms have queen beds. The living room has a comfortable couch on which you can relax and enjoy the WIFI and Roku. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the needed utensils for cooking, plus a Reverse Osmosis faucet for your drinking pleasure. There is also a Keurig machine for your convenience. The home is near the Indiana Dunes on Lake Michigan, and minutes from the scenic Rogers-Lakewood park, featuring: paddle boats, disc golf, hiking, fishing and great hills for sledding. Valparaiso is minutes from this home and boasts of many shops restaurants, movie theatre, Chicago Street theatre, and Albanese Candy Factory. If you are always looking for a deal, an enormous outlet mall is calling for you in Michigan City 20 minutes away. Chicago is 50 miles by car or ride the train into the city. Train station is 3.5 miles from the home. We are happy to welcome dogs in the home. We ask guests to not leave their dog unattended in the home. Additionally please clean up all pet excrement before departing. Guests are responsible for all damaged items. We are not responsible for any items left behind.

Sweet house ... not so sweet
We rented this location for 3nights. This rental was a disappointment, and we would not recommend it to anyone. The overwhelming smell of what turned out to be the plug in air freshener could not assuaged even when unplugged. We expected to be able to grill out and the grill was archaic and there were not coals, as expected/indicated in the description. The picture of the furniture are not accurate. The bed in the room to the right was awful. It was a memory foam mattress that you sink into, can't move, and is so hot. The bedrooms could at least have a lamp rather than just an overhead light. The cockroach in the middle bedroom was not what we wanted to find upon arrival. We will stick with the preferred hosts moving forward with VRBO.

Sweet Home in Chesterton was just that - a cozy home a short ways from the Indiana Dunes, an undersung treasure. The house was as described, with adequate furniture, a spacious yard (we did some outside entertaining and it was perfect), and a location very close to "downtown" Chesterton, with its good restaurants and shops. A very good choice for us!

Perfect Mini Getaway!
We booked our stay knowing we wanted to explore Indiana Dunes National Park and the close proximity was a huge perk! The house was wonderful! Perfect amount of space for our family of five to enjoy! Stocked with plenty of games for us to play in the evenings before bedtime! The house was clean and tidy upon arrival as well! A huge highlight of the house according to our kids we’re the fireflies once the sun went down! Such a fun bonus memory catching fireflies and releasing them! Thanks for a great stay!

Nice property for a stay. The kitchen has all necessary cooking utensils, and between the kitchen and family room there is enough room to spread out. The train overnight took a night or two to get used to, but it didn't bother us after that

Great spot to enjoy IN Dunes Beaches
This was a great property located in a great spot. We had plenty of room for both families, enjoyed being able to eat meals at the large table, play games in the evening and just hang out together. The house had everything we needed and a lot of little extras. We enjoyed walking to the local restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner and there were no shortages of places to pick from and try. We also really enjoyed walking to the local outdoor market on Sat. It is a short easy drive to any of the beaches and to Michigan City. I also really enjoyed walking in coffee creek park in the mornings. Thanks for being such great hosts.

Beautiful little escape
When driving up to this house I honestly thought we had been catfished. The outside of the home is not very appealing, but the inside is stunning. My, now husband, and I were looking to elope on the shores of Lake Michigan and so we booked this little house because it was the cheapest available in the area. I didn't look at the text on the listing in advance of reserving, just went on gut. I'm glad I did! just outside the house is a lovely little creek where one can sit in quiet contemplation of nature. You awaken to the sound of songbirds in the morning. It's lovely. And it's only about 15 minutes drive to the beaches. That being said.... the bed in one of the bedrooms (the queen be in the room to the right of the house if coming from the dining room) is not very comfortable. It has an odd plastic covering on the mattress in addition to what felt like 3 layers of sheets that didn't stay on the bed through the night. Additionally, there are trains that pass by regularly. These are in the description of the property (that i have now read), and the owners provide white noise machines to help you sleep through them. I still had a hard time sleeping due to these two factors. All in all though, i think this is a wonderful little property. I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely Wonderful Place
We had a fabulous stay at this house. The location is perfect - short drive to the Dunes, walk to adorable downtown Chesterton, and the lovely Coffee Creek park right next door. My young boys spent much time there. The hosts could not be more gracious, and the house has a very workable layout for a family of four. We would love to rent here again!

DONT STAY HERE
We rented this house smack in the middle of the corona outbreak. We had a medical emergency with a family nearby and wanted to be close and thought this would be better than a hotel because we could cook and were bringing a two year old with us. Well, there is a train that runs all day and all night close enough that it rattles the windows as it goes by and honks it horn all. Night. Long. I attempted to reach out to the owners after the first night there where my daughter didn’t sleep because she was scared of the loud noise. He refused to even issue a partial refund or work with me in any way despite the pandemic, despite the lack of prior notice of the roaring train that would keep us all up all night. He knows the train is loud and said there are sleep noise machines in every room. The owner lacks integrity, the house smells of cigarettes, the beds are small lumpy and very uncomfortable, the shower water trickles out and did I mention the train that will keep you up all night!!! Find another rental hopefully from someone who has so compassion and integrity.
