Very wonderful!!!!
This cottage was beautiful and comfortable. We enjoyed everything about it. It is well decorated without being cluttered. It was spotlessly clean. Everything about the check in and check out was simple. The private dock was so peaceful. We loved kayaking. The bikes look to be very nice, although we did not have a chance to use them. We hope to return in the future. Thank you!

Beautiful Stay
LOVED the area and the property! It was far enough in the woods that it made us feel like we were truly away from it all! The lake was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed the kayaks. Although it was cool weather, and we did not swim, my 3 year old grandson absolutely had a blast splashing in the water and throwing rocks. Water shoes advised since there are many rocks near shore. This was one of the most peaceful places I have ever stayed and the house really was lovely!

Wonderful place to stay!
The chalet was beautiful, clean and well maintained. The location was in a quiet location, but close to all the area attractions. The lake was beautiful and relaxing. I would higly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Nice cabin
Very comfortable and clean. Loved being on the lake even though we didn’t get to enjoy the kayaks because of the wind the one day we had planned to stay put. Although we did swim in the lake and had fun. Having the washer and dryer was a big plus. TV reception wasn’t great and the cabin needs some updating cookware.

Great Stay at the Chalet!
We had a great time on Carp/Paradise Lake and the chalet. Used the kayaks multiple times, loved the location. Had some great success fishing just off the dock. Enjoyed some needed family time. Thanks for a great property!

Phenomenal Stay
This property is beautiful. Spotless home. Brightly lit and nicely decorated. Amenities were excellent. Obvious care was taken to make sure we enjoyed our stay. My husband and I, two kids and my MIL and FIL had a wonderful stay. Great location! Close enough to enjoy adventure river rafting and day trip to Mackinaw Island. Lake Huron and Lake Michigan beaches. The more crowded areas. Remote enough to enjoy our own private dock, do some fishing and kayaking. kids also loved swimming in here at Carp Lake. Rocks instead of sand , but no problem with water shoes. We’ve done many beach vacations to SC over the years. However this spot quickly became a favorite because it was the right mix of fun and oh so relaxing. Enjoyed the serene sunrises and sunsets of Carp Lake.

35th anniversary getaway
We loved our anniversary getaway! This VRBO was exactly what we were looking for. The area is fairly secluded but right across the road from Paradise lake. We enjoyed fishing, kayaking, birdwatching, and enjoying the spectacular sunsets from the pier. It is very short drive to the ferry to Mackinac Island...another highlight of our trip. Highly recommend this place. We hope to come back in the future.

The property needs some overall deep cleaning, painting, and updating on the inside. The outside needs much attention. The dock area and cabana were nice, but the yard was neglected with sumac growing around the whole house. Being highly allergic to sumac, we had to vacate the property. With that said, Diane was very understanding and relocated us immediately. She checked on us and responded quickly if I needed anything.

Zelta, The forest surrounding the property does not belong to the owner so we have no control over it. It is not poison sumac as you thought. While the cottage shows some wear from the season, a fresh paint job is scheduled for the off-season. We moved you immediately at a drastic discount due to your stated allergy. This property generally receives 5-star reviews so I was surprised to see your comments.

Great cottage in a great location
We loved staying here with our kids for a five night family getaway. It was very clean and kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfasts and some dinners when we weren’t out and about. We have two kids ages 3 and 1, and put them in pack n plays in the main bedroom, while parents stayed in the loft so that we could enjoy the evenings in the living area but also so the kids wouldn’t be awoken by the light coming in from the tall windows. One bed in the loft was rock hard so something to be aware of. Other beds were comfortable. It was so close to everything, we enjoyed Mackinaw, St ignace and the island of course. The lake was super choppy when we were there and the water far too cold to swim but we were able to get the kayaks out one morning which was so fun for the kids. Great place, will stay again!

Beautiful little nook on the lake
We loved this little gem, we wish we could have stayed longer! The lake access is perfection as are the amenities. Great location. Our young boys were in heaven on the kayaks and were sad they couldn’t stay longer.

Fun place to relax and rest.
Rental place was clean and lovely. My family enjoyed the lake front for boating and fishing. It is near Mackinac City to see all the tourist sites, but also you can take a trip to Upper Peninsula and see Lake Superior .

Great location, deceiving pictures
We enjoyed our stay, but were very disappointed that we paid the “in season” rate but didn’t get to enjoy the “in season” activities due to the dock already being taken up for the winter. The pictures show the dock is there and we were really looking forward to fishing and kayaking. However, with the dock not there, the water was not deep enough off the shore to take advantage of those amenities that we paid for. Would stay again, but definitely would verify that all amenities would be accessible when paying the rate we paid. Overall we had a great time, we just had to make changes to our plans. Property manager was very nice and other accommodations were wonderful!

Private & relaxing!
The home was nicely decorated perfect for a private getaway. Very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The air conditioning was a real plus after a hot day on the road! The lakefront directly across a quiet dirt road was a wonderful spot to enjoy the abundant nature from the shaded deck, the cabana, or on the dock. Every day we enjoyed watching a pair of bald eagles that nested nearby. The morning and evening visits from a family of loons and listening to their beautiful call was magical. Because we had rented a pontoon for the time we were there, we didn't use the kayaks, but having them available is an added plus. The path down a short hill to the lakefront deck might be a little steep for older folks, and it would be helpful to have a handrail. However, we had a wonderful stay, and hope to return someday!

A Place of Peace and Beauty
The house was very clean and comfortable and provided a peaceful and beautiful home base for our adventures. One of highlights was the times spent sitting on the dock reading or just listening to the loons. We also enjoyed the kayaks and bikes; both of which were of good quality and well maintained.

Perfect Place
This place is amazing! The perfect home base for all the sightseeing we did around Mackinaw and the UP. Could not have been easier or quicker to get to Mackinaw City. The lake is so peaceful and we loved paddling around with the kayaks. The lake is also great for swimming with a sandy bottom and clean water. House was very clean and had everything we needed. Was well stocked with plenty of TP, tissues, extra blankets and pillows, etc. Kids loved having their own loft space. We would love to come back, staying here made our vacation extra relaxing. Thank you!

Very cute cottage. Well maintained and clean inside. Outside lawn needed a cut while we were there and the property manager was quick to help and had it cut for us. Kayaks were great fun for the kids so was nice to have those provided. We were able to bring our own fishing boat and dock in at the house which was very nice. Overall we had an enjoyable stay! :)

We enjoyed the location as it was a quick drive into Mackinaw City. We were on a cross country move so this seemed like a good place to stop. We enjoyed the kayaks and hanging out on the dock. It was a good size home for our family of 5. My only suggestion would be to update some things like kitchen pans and towels, shower curtain, etc. Beds were comfortable. Check in was easy.

"Picturesque "
This secluded gem was more beautiful than the pictures. Masterfully decorated! The color selections and the nautical theme are consistent throughout. Can you count the sailboats? ⛵ The furniture was very comfortable, especially the queen sized bed. Looking through the door walls through the tall pines looks like a post card, but when you walk a few steps to the lake you are in your own paradise. The Cabanna is cool! Very close to Mackinaw City. A TV in the Master bed room was a real plus for us. Everything works great, the internet, cell reception, air, and great hot water. Really, the cottage should receive an award for interior design and decorating.

Family Getaway
This property has a beautiful view of Carp Lake. It's a quick walk down to the water with a nice dock where you can sit and enjoy the view. The loft area in the cabin has an especially nice view of the lake. The property is very close to Mackinaw City/Island as well as the bridge and the Headlands Dark Sky Park. It took us under 10 minutes to get to those destinations from the cabin. The cabin was tidied up and smelled fresh upon arrival. Despite all of the pros to this cabin, we ended up cutting our stay short by one night. While the cabin was tidy, there was a great deal of dust present. The cabin was also filled with many bugs- both alive and dead. Bugs were crawling on the walls and floor, as well as dead all over the ceilings and walls. There was even traces of bug guts on the ceilings and walls, likely from when someone smashed them. I woke up after our first night with bug bites all over my face. There were ants all over the kitchen, and there were spiders large and small throughout. I do realize the cabin is directly in the woods, but the listing should mention the amount of bugs present, or the property should have regular perimeter pest control. In addition, on our second night there, the power went out. When the power goes out, there is no water service. You cannot wash your hands or flush the toilet. The outage lasted several hours. We contacted the property manager, but did not hear back from her until the next morning after the power was restored. A back up generator would be a good idea, but if that isn't an option it would be good to leave guests with the contact information of how to report a power outage. Between the outage and the bugs, we decided to check out the night before we were due to leave. Overall, the property was ok. If you can overlook the bugs and the potential of a power outage, then you can't beat the view, the price, and the proximity to all of the local attractions.

Jennifer, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay fully. The owners do exterminate regularly and had sprayed just before you arrived (which would explain the dead bugs). It is Northern Michigan but the fish flies in May were the worse we've seen. They are a harmless bug that resembles a mosquito but they don't bite (although they are very annoying). They show up for a few days every year - we cannot predict when they will arrive - and then are gone. Had you called, we could have taken care of it for you. As far as the power outage, unfortunately that is out of our control. The power company restored it within a few hours.

My husband and I were looking for a quiet weekend away for our anniversary. This rental was perfect for what we needed. The lake was beautiful, the house was amazing, and we were provided with kayaks and bicycles! Any questions we had were promptly answered by the owner. Quaint and Peaceful
This is a great little property. It's decorated nicely and it's clean. You are just a short drive away from Mackinaw City and the ferry to the island. Having a view of the water is a plus; we spent time on the deck reading and enjoying the lake breeze. We also enjoyed Wilderness State Park and the Headlands, which are nearby.

Wonderful vacation spot
Family of 4 had a great time at the property. The place is secluded, on a quiet dirt road with great amenities yet only short ride to Mackinaw City for any necessities and a Starbucks fix ;) Between swimming in the lake, kayaking, fishing, riding a bike or playing board games to end the day, there is plenty to do. The cabana was my favorite spot to relax. I do agree with another reviewer about lack of a fire pit, it would be an added bonus.

My family and stayed here for a short weekend. We wanted to be close to Mackinaw, yet, in a quiet location on a lake. This checked all of our boxes. It also is close to many other options for day trips such as Indian River and Petoskey. The lake was also quiet. We loved it. Property was clean and property manager was extremely responsive and helpful in answering questions we had as we prepared for our trip.
