With so many other options within blocks, this is the worst place to stay. We complained immediately about water leaking from the light fixtures and random holes in the ceilings. Literal pools of water were constantly on the floor, and both the toilet and shower had mold. Not to mention there’s an actual window (TITTIE HEIGHT IN THE SHOWER… free peep show for those walking on the sidewalk). The front desk staff showed no interest in its guest comfort… like, at all. No one even greets you because looking up from their phones is too much to ask for. Just no.

The hotel feel..guests are treated professionally not like many other hostels where they use volunteer & don't know what they're doing & don't handle issues, situations properly..as i had the bad experience here in Cancun just a fee days ago..so Selina is worth the little extra money & be pampered like you deserve!!!

Okay place to stay for a few nights in Cancun. Close to the main attractions in the hotel zone. Lots happening in the hostel at night and a nice vibe from the travellers staying there. Great sunset view over the pool at night. The check in and check out staff were unfriendly and dismissive. Bar staff also seemed disinterested. Breakfast was good, rooms basic but good enough.

I stayed in a private room and overall found it to be a pleasant experience. Yes, it was loud at night with the dance hall next door, but all-in-all the room was clean, linens clean, air conditiong worked very well (This was a blessing after being out in the sun all day), and very close to multiple locations in the downtown area. Lastly, I was happy to see on busier nights they had security working the entrance checking people as they entered (Some people came to enjoy the dancing at the small club area)

I rented a private king size bed room. My room was facing the street and a Restaurant below with loud music, staff were little to no help, seemed disorganized and clueless. While I was in my room some other person that for some reason had keys to my room just opened it out of the blue, definitely caught me by surprise. Also bear in mind that this hotel won’t allow you to drink in your room, so if you want to have a beer or a glass of wine in your Cancún hotel room that would be a no no at this hotel; you are allowed to buy drinks at their bar of course, sounds pretty convenient for them.

I could not have been made to feel more welcomed at Selina Downtown, from the first day arriving until the day of departure the staff were always happy to help and offer suggestions on where to go if I needed to buy something or wanted to try a specific type of cuisine. The front desk and housekeeping staff genuinely do keep this place running like clockwork and they’re a credit to the company. I’ll definitely be back.

El staff dentro del sitio ha sido una de mis peores experiencias al reservar con expedía. Adicionalmente, dentro de las opciones de reserva no se especificaba que tipo de habitación nos darían y terminamos pagando un adicional por algo no descrito en la habitación. En términos generales, no volvería a este sitio por su pésimo servicio.

Terrible private rooms. Hostel overpriced!
The private room was very small. It had an interior lobby window and it was very noisy. The bathrooms were crowded and busy, and didn’t even. Have a counter or vanity to put your personal bath items on. The water pressure was terrible and the water was like warm. It was the worst room in Cancun.

Seline was a great hostel to stay at! We had a great room complete with a full kitchen and the staff were always SO helpful for us with information to help us get around on local transportation. Would definitely go back. The only downside was the smell in the bathroom, but I think that is just a result of an old sewer system in the building/city.

Amazing location. Horrible music for 6 hours in a row. Room did not have functioning plumbing (no water) was fixed, whole place did not have water on my last day of stay. Pests and cockroaches found in room and luggage bags. Staff was prompt to address issues expect pests.

Get a private bathroom
Okay for the price, I recommend a private bathroom as the communal ones aren’t great. Tiny showers and no separate male / female so a bit awkward. Our small room was fine and everything we needed. Thanks!

The cheapest are collective rooms where you have to sleep with strangers. The attention of the staff is terrible and they want to charge you for everything with exorbitant prices.

The property was cute. However, I paid more for a bigger, nicer room with private bath, and the shower had no hot water or water pressure. They came to "fix" it, still no hot water and almost no pressure. I took only cold showers under a drip on my visit.

Nice place for the price. It’s a hostile style hotel with the option of private rooms. I booked the King suite which has a lot of room space and nice comfy size bed. Only con I have is the bathroom space. Also would suggest that they add refrigerator and microwave to the King suite. The location is downtown Cancun so you have many restaurants and bars around but it’s a good distance from the hotel zone area. Depending on what your intentions are while visiting this is a great location. If you’re looking for a more tourist vacation I wouldn’t suggest this location but if you prefer a more authentic vacation it’s perfect. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There’s a bar with happy hour and ladies get to drink free 7-8 although now that I think about it the bartender charged me for my drinks. All in all good hotel. We got a small room which in the pictures has a bathroom, however it only comes with shared bathroom. The lock on the door was half ripped from the door itself, didn't feel super secure. The worst part was the price here was more expensive than on site and when we pointed that out the receptionist just looked at us and said "well, it says your balance is ...". Wot not stay here again.

Location was perfect accross the street from airport bus ADO station , checkin easy enough room was hot large dorm no one turned on AC . Upon deciding to extend my stay took a small dorm , a few people who has no idea what shearing a room means i requested an even smaller dorm, was informed had to get managers permisson ask to pay 1000 peasos Cash thaugh nothing of it while rushing to change to the new room the receptionist came back to inform me i had to pay another 1600 peasos . I requested the 1000 peasos cash back to put the entire 2600 peasos on a credit card he refused to return it , with rushing to change room i paid 1600 peasos and finished moving however in the back of my mind something did not seems correct getting useto the exchang and all . next day he offered me a free welcome drink receipt ,still not accepting something was not right the next day i sak another receptionist on duty for the cost of my room to be informed it was 1600 peasos when i informed him what his coworker did immedeatly i was blamed for paying cash and not requesting a receipt at the same time told this pearson quit his job the day before 😏 was a very bad experence first if five years tow to three trips per year ! No refund No apologie was ask to write a report , felt the suitation was not handled seriousley gave it to karma to eaven the score 👍 due to the price and covid-19 i stayed two months sheltering two huricanes there a secure building clean and a uesable kitchen . Will never return

I was so excited to stay here because of the great reviews, but unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. We had the studio room w/kitchen and terrace. I don't know if it's because maybe the room hasn't been serviced in a while because they weren't booking that room due to a leak that happened from the hurricane or what but there was mold on the kitchen table, the bedding smelled like mildew and the worst part was the bathroom's toilet. It smelled like it was the toilet water and it was pretty bad. It smelled just like the ADO bus's toilet. We didn't complain since we were just only staying for 1 night but if we were staying for more, I would of definitely asked to switch rooms. The only good thing about this place was that the overnight staff helped us get some rest at 4:30AM until the morning staff got there and was able to put us in our room. Customer service was great! Location is literally right across the street from the ADO Bus Terminal so that helped us a lot when we arrived in Cancun at 4:30AM.

Super cool hostel with awesome common spaces. Loved just chilling out by the pool or working in one of the designer chairs in the lobby. Only negative is that the dorm AC temp is permanently set, can't be changed.
