I booked this tiny house for my wife's NYE birthday, as well as a respite from her radiation treatments over the last year. We're facing another trying year in 2022, too, hence the getaway. Overall, we liked the house. Having rented with VRBO and ABnB all over the world, we know what to expect. The house was fairly tidy. Small, as advertised, which was kinda the appeal. Decorated well. The blackout blinds are awesome. Interwebs worked great.
A few things we'd have loved to see, though, and they all surround conveniences. There are very few resources inside for guests. Examples - two trashbags for a small under-the-sink can and a week-long stay, which were super thin and ripped right away. No samples of body soaps or even coffee, etc. No hairdryer for guests. The liquid hand soap in the bathroom dispenser would barely even foam up when used (watered down?). For the amount we paid, I think these are kinda expected, or at least that has been our experiences elsewhere, and in Europe. FWIW, these samples, including two or three generic Kuerigs, would have cost, maybe, $5 in total to provide. Just a thought for future guests.
Also, the pictures do not show just how close to the road or the neighbors you'll be, either. The photos you see are of the road, not a driveway. You are right behind a church and share the actual driveway with the folks next door. Prolly my fault in part because I absolutely should've looked for an aerial view and asked more detailed questions before booking. This would have allowed a more informed decision. Again, just feedback and info for future guests.
We admittedly didn't leave a ton, so we didn't experience a whole lot of Boone. We also left an entire day early due to incoming weather. We did eat in town a few times and had good experiences. Carolina Pizza Company, Basils (their pasta!), Foggy Rock Eatery, Kovu's Coffee were all great. Small businesses ftw.
Comms were by email entirely. When there was an alert put out by the water company for a main leak, the notice came via email. I had to check back later to see if there were any updates or a need to boil water. As small business owners and advocates, it's always the little things that keep folks coming back.
Access was easy. Check-out was just as easy. We followed the directions to the letter and beat the snow home.
Overall a good stay at a cute place.
