Max Brown Canal is near the Central Station in a lovely neighbourhood close to many attractions. Tram lines nearby can take you to many museums. Staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Street and canal are quiet at night. Not a great hotel for seniors, at least in the cheaper rooms: odd stairs and door thresholds, poor room lighting, no shelf in bathroom to store toilet articles, great bed but chairs not really comfy.

Max Brown is in an attractive neighborhood, walkable to transportation, shopping, dining and tours. Staff is courteous and welcome area is oversized for the size of the property. We were in town to see the city, not our room. We were not comfortable having to climb up two sections of very steep skinny stairs with our heavy luggage so be prepared for that struggle. The room was small and hard to move around the suitcases when they were open. The bedding was clean and comfortable, but the room had no air-conditioning so we slept with the windows open and a fan.

This was a very charming hotel facing a beautiful canal. We are a family of 4 so we ended up in the attic room which offered 2 beds. This is a narrow building but is several stories tall, which made for some very steep staircases to haul luggage (no elevator), but the staff is very good about offering to bring your bags up for you to help make this a non-issue. Front desk is manned 24/7 if needed and we found all staff we encountered to be very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is well located and a very walkable distancew from Central Station. We very much enjoyed out stay.

Beautiful property in a quieter area but within walking distance to many attractions and central station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As reviews have mentioned, the stairs are a bit steep and there is no lift, but that’s to be expected in this type of building. I would stay here again.

We came to Amsterdam for the Fespa 2024 trade show in March. The hotel was in walking distance to the central train station, which was important to get to the show. It is also in walking distance to all other sights, restaurants and shops. The rooms are pretty small and there is no elevator to get up to your rooms. The stairs are very steep, which is typical for old Dutch buildings. Pack light, is my advice. The room was clean, modern and the beds comfortable. The bathroom was tiny and we managed. Although there are places to have breakfast outside of the hotel, we chose to eat at the hotel. The coffee is delicious and the typical European breakfast is a great start to your day. The staff were lovely and helpful. We would stay here again.

Such a quaint place. Location was amazing, we had absolutely everything we needed, and the staff were so attentive and accommodating. We especially loved the lobby area where we could come back at the end of the evening an enjoy a nice drink and visit.

Amazing gem of a hotel in a quite part of the canals. Very walkable to all the parts of the city and a great area in its own right. The hotel is cosy and gezellich and the rooms are quirky but comfortable. I would definitely recommend it.
